VFR route planning: from chart work to execution

A VFR navigation flight requires structured preparation: route selection, NOTAM, weather, fuel planning and alternates.

VFR route planning starts not with a line on a chart, but with understanding the task: departure, destination, route limitations and the decisions that should be made before engine start.

The candidate analyses airspace, weather, NOTAM, aerodrome data, alternate options and fuel planning. Each element affects the safety and realism of the planned route.

Special attention is paid to navigation references, checkpoints, altitudes, communications and actions if conditions change. A good plan is not a rigid script; it supports decision-making in flight.

In training, the goal is not only to complete the route but to understand the planning logic. That logic becomes a foundation for safer future flight experience.
